Using the basic recipe for making a Spong Cake, there are so many ways to decorate it by just using your favourite ingredients.
Here is one of my favourites:

When the sponge cake has cooled down we cut into two pieces and wet with the cherry syrup. If we like we can also make syrup by ourselves and keep it in the fridge for similar use.
Put the sponge cake in a platter and put back the spring form ring on the cake. Spread the cream ion the cake,after it has cooled down and add the cherries on cream (without syrup). Place the other sponge cake on top and spread whipping cream with a knife.
Decorate as you like grating some chocolate on top and adding some cherries.
