Kormos in Greek means tree log and has been named after its shape.    A very easy dessert even a child can make it. This one was done by my daughter.

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet (250 grams) of butter
  • 2 cups of icing sugar
  • 1/2 cup of dark cocoa
  • 3 packets of plain biscuits, such as morning coffee or petit beurre
  • 1/4 cup of Tia Maria Liqueur
  • 1 cup of evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 250 grams of walnuts chopped
  • or 125 grams melted dark chocolate  for garnishing (instead of walnuts)

Directions:

  1. Leave butter outside the fridge for 2 hours to soften.
  2. Beatbutterinmixer with cocoa and sugaruntilfluffy.
  3. Mix in vanillasandwalnuts (leavesometoputontop).
  4. Put milk and liqueur in a bowl and wet biscuits (but do not soak them), then break them into small pieces and add to the butter mixture.  Mix well.
  5. Cut a big piece of parchment paper and put the mixture giving it a salami shape.
  6. Sprinklewiththewalnuts. Rollandfold.
  7. Place it in the deep freezer for a couple of hours before serving.

Note:   Instead of adding the walnuts, you may melt chocolate and pour it on top.
