Aparna I know that it's not my fault and copyright was inexistent then but even today that there are copyright laws we hear of so many unethical people trying to become richer by stealing the hard work of others. On the other hand we did enjoy Indian music but I felt like mentioning it.

Ivy, I did wonder why you were apologising to Indians. Anyways, its not your fault.
This is something that happens in music (and other fields) all over the world. Look at it this way. Those who did something shameful have to live with it. You got to enjoy some good music. :)

These are some wonderful omlettes!
I was keen on finding out more about Rembetika music and through your link i came to one where I could also lsiten to one and I think it is lovely. This is something with which you could proudly identify as a Greek. The copied versions, even if appreciated and popular, really don't compare to it. As, Rembetika is one of it's kind.

And as others have already mentioned, this is happening still and in India too since many years infact. They copy some tunes, usually the chorus, as I have seen, from the western pop music and include it in their music.
But, this is a wonderful gesture on your part!

I love the one with the feta, mushrooms and pepers.
I love the movie Mother India, one of the classics
I do agree with peter about borrowin ( stealing) music from others, which is still done, it is not only greeks who are doing it, even we Indians do it. If we listen to some if the Indian movie songs, you would be surprised how they are same ( ofcourse not the whole song).

What a fascinating read. Indian movies are very popular in Malaysia, and many of the songs have been reinterpreted in the local vernacular. Is it unfair? Very.
The omelettes sound delicious; my favourite is the version with the Greek sausages, sun dried tomatoes and onions. Sausages are the downfall of my diet.

I love omlettes because of all the potential variety. Diffrent cultures are always ripping off other cultures to make it their own. Look at the roots of Rock and Roll taken from black culture.Elvis got rich of off lesser know moves and style of others. Rather than get angry , I always feel imitation is the sincerist form of flattery.

Greeks are under-rated with omelets as they enjoy them so much as a dinner with many versatile recipes.

As for the ripping off of Indian music, sadly "borrowing" from other musical influences occurs even today and will continue in the future.

I think in the 50's copyright law was almost non-existant and if you take a look at the pirating of DVD's & CD's in Greece and around the world, this infringement will sadly continue.
