I don't think anyone has ever dove in however! It is the symbolism, though, that counts. There is a beautiful ceremony as well in Tarpon Springs, Florida where there are a number of Greeks (mainly Kalymnians) and with the warmer climate young men and women are able to dive in after the cross there.
