Buying Greek seasoning can be expensive, so make more and give some to your friends and family, as it makes a great gift too!
It goes well with poultry but also in many more recipes. It is very easy to make and you can season chicken, fish or other meat or add it in marinades.
If you don’t like any of the spices, just leave it out.
I don’t use dried garlic or onion, as I prefer to use fresh ones in the recipes I make.
Many store bought herb and spice blends can be expensive, and a lot of them contain additives, anti-caking agents, or MSG.
So, take out your mortar and pestle (or electric spice grinder) and make your own Greek spice mixture!

DIY Greek Spice Mixture
Make your own Greek spice mixture. You can use it to add a little extra flavour to your Greek dishes. It goes well with poultry but also in many more recipes.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 1 tbsp thyme
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp mixed peppercorns (black, red, green, white)
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds (black or yellow)
- 1 tsp tarragon
- 1 tsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp boukovo (sweet chili flakes)
- 1 tbsp coarse sea salt
Instructions
- Crush all the ingredients together using a pestle and mortar or an electric spice grinder.
- Store in a tightly capped jar o or in an air-tight container.
Notes
If you like you can add some dried garlic and onion. However, I prefer to add them fresh in my recipes.
